Tagset | Collection | Requests Summary
April is (somehow) rapidly drawing to a close, and it's time to start thinking about this year's round of Everywoman!
fiachairecht and
ashling are continuing on as mods, and we're happy to welcome
ladybrooke back to the team. We have a shiny new mod dreamwidth and email that all three of us have access to, so if you have questions that you don't want to ask on the comm, please DM
everywomanmods or email everywomanmods@protonmail.com.
Rules will remain essentially the same as last year, and the schedule has been moved up a week to overlap a little less with our friends at
femslashafterdark. If you have questions, please comment here (anon commenting is enabled, screening is off). We have made these rules as comprehensive as possible, but reserve the right to make as-needed decisions if necessary.
Schedule
All deadlines are 11:59pm EST. Countdowns for important deadlines will be linked.
Nominations
Fandoms
You may nominate up to 8 fandoms, with up to 8 characters or groups in each.
- Any fandom is eligible, including RPF, original works, and crossovers.
- For modern RPF fandoms, the characters involved must be over 18, can be removed at the request of the individual, and must not be in horrendously bad taste. Mods will determine what horrendously bad taste is.
- Non-famous family/friends may not be nominated into modern RPF fandoms.
Characters and Groups
- You may nominate any female character, in the form "A (Fandom Name)". This means:
- You may nominate groups of female characters, in the form "Group: A and B". This means all characters must appear in a work created for the group tag. It does not mean anything about the type of relationship those characters will have in the work - that is for your optional details.
- Nominations of the form "Group: A/B" or "Group: A & B" will be edited before being approved.
- All members of nominated groups must be female.
- During requests, recips may request shippy or platonic fic based on the group. It is not required to fulfill any requests for relationship fic.
- Crossovers should be nominated under the fandom Crossover Groups. Format the group as Group: Character A (Fandom A) and Character B (Fandom B). For example, Group: Aredhel (The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-earth) and Susan Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia). If you hit a character limit, let the mod know. If in doubt, feel free to ask.
- Crossover Groups is located under the No Media tab.
Signups: Requests & Offers
- Requests: There is a required minimum of three distinct fandoms requested. You may request up to ten fandoms. Within each fandom, you may request 1-10 characters or groups.
- If no offers match your requests, you will be sent out as a pinch hit. Mods reserve the right to ask lingering pinch hits to add requests, but hope to not have to do this.
- Offers: There is a required minimum of four distinct fandoms offered. You may offer up to ten fandoms. Within each fandom, you may offer 1-10 characters or groups.
- If you do not want to be matched with specific person, please send an email to everywomanmods@protonmail.com including your AO3 username and the AO3 username of the person. We do not require an explanation or further information. (Note we cannot prevent someone creating a treat for you.)
- If your offers lead to no possible recipients, mods will contact you after signups close to ask you to add offers.
- Medium: You may request or offer fanart, fanfic, or both, using the freeform tags.
- Use the optional details field to give your creator extra information about the things you like in gifts, as well as Do Not Wants (DNWs, things that you absolutely do not want in your gift).
- In order to be enforced, DNWs must be placed in the sign up field on AO3.
- DNWs can’t be used to box your creator in to writing only one specific type of story, and can’t contradict one of your requested tags. As an example, you cannot request a group of two people who have never met in canon, and then DNW Alternate Universes including canon divergences. Your DNWs also should not be so vague that creators and mods cannot reasonably determine if a particular work includes them. If mods see this happening, they will send an email asking for the DNW to be changed, or for the sign-up to be deleted.
- If you notice a request that seems contradictory or railroading, please email us privately so we can contact the requester and give them a chance to fix it before matching. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen and it’s best to fix them early. Any contradictory or railroading DNWs that persist after matching will not be enforced. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about whether or not a DNW is unreasonable.
- Letters may be linked in the sign up field, and a letters post will be put up on the DW comm when sign ups open.
- Matching is OR matching. You will be matched based off of 1 fandom, 1 character or group in that fandom, and 1 media type requested for that fandom. Your creator does not have to include multiple fandoms.
- If you sign up with more than one account, you will be expected to produce at least one work per signup for your recipient. Irresponsible socking will result in a ban for all involved accounts.
Gift Requirements
- Fic is required to be at least 500 words, fanart must be a nice sketch at minimum. No lined paper, no photomanips.
- DNWs listed in the signup on AO3 must be respected. If you feel that your DNWs may have not been respected, please do email mods at everywomanmods@protonmail.com. It’s important to us that everyone receives a gift that they can enjoy, and writers that violate DNWs will be dealt with at mods’ discretion.
- Any character nominated must be treated as a woman in fanworks produced for this exchange, even if they are not definitively female outside of the exchange.
- Recipients may leave prompts for relationships based on group noms, or request femslash or het based on single character noms. It is not required for any gifter to fulfill those prompts.
Pinch Hits
- Pinch hits will be posted to the DW comm on a first claimed basis.
- You may claim one open pinch hit at a time.
- Pinch hitters do not have to be signed up to the exchange.
- Unless otherwise specified, pinch hits are due the same day as assignments.
Extensions
- Extensions should be requested prior to the due date and will be granted at the mod's discretion.
Defaults
- If you cannot finish your work in the timeframe of the exchange, please default so mods can find a pinch hitter. If you default, and are defaulted on in turn, you will not be sent out as a pinch hit.
- If you default before the assigned due date, there is no penalty, nor is there a penalty for being forcibly defaulted at the deadline.
- There is mod discretion to impose a penalty for actions like deleting a fic post deadline, forcing an emergency pinch hit, and offensive behavior to mods or other participants (inclulding but not limited to bullying, shaming, writing spitefic, etc.) We did not have any of these problems in the last round, and we hope that 2020 will be an equally good year.
