Nominations

For nominations, you’re allowed five fandoms and eight character slots.

Fandoms
- Any fandom is eligible, including RPF, original works, and crossovers. For more info on crossover groups, original works, and big franchises, read the Nominations Guidelines here.

- There are special rules for modern RPF fandoms (credit for this section goes to [personal profile] pumpkinkingmod, whose wording on previous rules posts is pretty much perfect):
Must be over 18
Can be removed at the request of the individual
Must not be in horrendously bad taste. I determine what horrendously bad taste is.
Non-famous family/friends are not eligible

Characters/Groups
- Either single characters or a group of female characters can be nominated for the character slots.

- Female is defined the same as it was in the 2017 FAQ, but to recap:
Cis women
Trans women
Canon female versions of canonical male characters
Video game characters where you chose the gender
Characters whose gender is not revealed by canon
2nd person works where the gender is not clearly stated
RPF of people who identify as female
Cases where a character is not necessarily a woman in canon, but a case can be made where a reasonable person would understand why they could be interpreted as such

- If you nominate a group, all members must be female.

- Nominate groups as Group: Eliza & Claire, with as many characters as you like. Use specific characters, not general groups. All members of the group should be included when the group is requested.

- During requests, recips may request shippy or platonic fic based on the group. It is not required to fulfill any requests for relationship fic, however.

Crossovers

- Crossovers should be nominated under the fandom Crossover Groups. Format the group as Group: Character A (Fandom A) & Character B (Fandom B). For example, Group: Aredhel (The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-earth) & Susan Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia). If you hit a character limit, let the mod know. If in doubt, feel free to ask.

Crossover Groups is located under the No Media tab.

Signups – Requests & Offers

- Requests: There is a required minimum of three distinct fandoms requested. You may request up to ten fandoms.

- Offers: There is a required minimum of four distinct fandoms offered, you may offer up to ten fandoms.

- DNWs must be placed in the sign up field on Ao3 to be enforced by the mod

- Letters may be linked in the sign up field, and a letters post will be put up on the DW comm when sign ups open.

- Signups allow you to request/offer Fanart, Fanfiction, or both using the freeform tags.

- Matchups are OR matching.

Fic/Art Requirements

- Fic is required to be at least 500 words, fanart must be a nice sketch at minimum. No lined paper, no photomanips.

- DNWs listed in the signup on Ao3 must be respected.

- Any character nominated must be treated as a woman in fanworks produced for this exchange, even if they are not definitively female outside of the exchange.

- As noted above, recips may leave prompts for relationships based on group noms, or request femslash or het based on single character noms. It is not required for any gifter to fulfill those prompts.

Pinch Hits

- Pinch hits will be posted to the DW comm on a first claimed basis.

- You may claim one open pinch hit at a time.

- Pinch hitters do not have to be signed up to the exchange.

- Unless otherwise specified, pinch hits are due the same day as assignments.

Extensions

- Extensions should be requested prior to the due date. Most extensions will be granted.

Socks

- Socks are allowed, just don't cause trouble with them.

- Keep the number of socks reasonable. Reasonable is broadly defined as "Don't have enough socks to run a sports team or play all the Weasley children in a play".

Default Penalties

- If you default before the assigned due date, there is no penalty, nor is there a penalty for being forcibly defaulted at the deadline.

- There is mod discretion to impose a penalty for actions like deleting a fic post deadline, forcing an emergency pinch hit. This will hopefully be an incredibly rare event.

If you have any questions not answered above, feel free to ask on the question post (unscreened, anon comments allowed) or send a PM to either mod ([personal profile] fiachairecht or [personal profile] ashling ).

Future posts should include links to relevant former posts/Ao3.

What does "socks" mean in this context?

Oh, sock accounts, I've heard that phrase before. It just didn't click for me here. Thanks for explaining it!

Not seeing a questions post, so asking here. Is there a reason American Horror Story is showing under the movies category instead of the TV shows category where it should be?

'American Horror Story' is a child tag of both Movies and TV Shows, for ... AO3 reasons. It shows up under both categories, mods unfortunately can't do anything about it since tagset tags aren't really separate from archive-wide tags.

...I must've missed it in the TV section then. Sorry! LOL

No worries! Wandering tags are a perpetual exchange thorn, we'll make notes of the most egregious ones when we open signups if necessary.

Hello, I'm curious, what does OR matching means?

Makes sense! Thanks for the explanation.

Treating question

I am not signed up for the exchange, but I might like to write a treat for one of the requests.

If I do, it will be the first time I’m writing the particular characters/fandom and I’m a little nervous about it, but I want to try.

My question, just not knowing what I’ll turn up with...are treats required to be 500 words also?

I was an idiot and accidentally defaulted when I meant to hit fulfill. Is there any way to correct this? It looks like I might still be able to fulfill my request to the party despite it saying I've defaulted, does that work?
