I went to sign up but it says: This sign-up is invalid. Please check your sign-ups for a duplicate or edit to fix any other problems.

Are we supposed to be copypasting the tags from the tag set, so they have your particular parenthetical descriptions? Like, I want to request The Stalk for Saga, but in the dropdown menu she's listed as The Stalk and in the tagset she's listed as The Stalk (Saga). I also want to request The Brand, who isn't in the dropdown menu at all (but who is in the tag set).

There are a few fandoms where only one character is in the tagset, but we have to sign up for at least two. I mean, I have enough fandoms that I'm not gonna depend on that, so whatever, but I thought I'd point that out. ;)

I'm going to sign up the way I usually do for 'AND' matching because I don't foresee it being a problem for me just in case I'm cutting it close here, but let's see if I can articulate my question adequately:

In the explanation of the technically-'OR' matching you say that one could (for example) request: [Pairing], [Character within Pairing]

... so that one could potentially receive fic for pairing or a fic about that single character, but how is one supposed to sign up in this way? Do we literally write 'group:[Character A] & [Character B]' in addition to any regular character tags or am I misunderstanding this completely? Sorry if this is a big reading comprehension failure on my part, this is just the first time I've seen this dynamic. I think it's very useful if I can figure it out, but I'm confused!

Sorry about being confused but if you can help me get it then thank you so much.

Edit: Also, while I'm at it, would it be appropriate to request more than one possible pairing for a fandom or would you just be better off / more considerate for matching to just select 'any' in that case?

Second Edit: Going through that tag set in places that I hadn't looked as of yet when I wrote this comment, it would seem that the 'group:[thing]' happened during nominations and that it's irrelevant to signing up unless that tag was created during the nomination process? If I have answered my own question in discovering this, then my new question is, if a 'group:' tag doesn't exist then all normal character tags are still treated as 'OR' for the purposes of matching? So, let's say I wouldn't mind a fic that ships two characters but don't necessarily want that particular pairing, if I request both could I be matched to someone who only offered one in the case of single character tags?

I'm so sorry for being this squeaky wheel I just so rarely see 'OR' matching that I'm kind of delirious with the possibilities of it.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful and even tailored to my interests response that is super kind of you. I get it now, and I think that this makes a lot of sense and I hope that somehow it catches on eventually.

Not actually an "issue" per se, but I happen to know quite a few of the small fandoms that has requests but no offers in the sign-up summary. I didn't put them in my Offers, either because I only want to write one of the listed characters, or because I'm not too willing to commit before I see the actual request - but I'm very willing to take multiple assignments if you're having trouble with the matching (:
