I couldn't find it in the FAQ - sorry if I missed it - but did you decide to use And or Or matching? I didn't vote in the poll because I would be happy with either, but I am still interested to know because it will affect my choices for nominations.

The matching will be OR based. It won by one vote in the poll. I have toyed with some ideas on how to accommodate people that like AND based as well. One thought was to let people nominate groups of characters either under the Characters or Relationships field. If I did that it would create some difficulty. Doing it under Characters would mean a lot of non-canonical tags. Doing it under Relationships would mean that I would have to do more hand matching since I don't believe AO3 can be set to do OR using two fields.

So, I thought I'd get an idea of the interest level based on discussion and people subscribing to the com to see if I thought it was possible to do it that way.

Those are interesting options. One thing I wondered about in another situation was AND matching with a minimum of two characters (so someone who asked for A, B, and C could be matched with someone who offered B and C). I don't know if that would work here. I especially don't know if it would work if it prevented someone who requested only A from being matched to someone who offered only A (because one character not two). But I have observed that people who are especially unhappy with OR matching are those who want ships.

Yeah, true, you don't get to set it to "match on this OR on this" between the different fields.

I suppose if there weren't too many sign-ups, you could make it easier for yourself by changing the matching settings to relationships, running matching, and noting down all the matches, then changing it back to characters, and matching from there, but that sounds like a huge hassle.

Hope you don't mind me blathering at you. It is just interesting to look at what's possible in the current interface.

I'm looking forward to this! I'd like to nominate and offer so many more than 10, but I do understand why that's a reasonable limit. Just, ahh, female characters.

I also realize that I'm probably not going to find a match for some of the ladies I REALLY want to nominate, but again that can't be helped. It's my own fault for being such a sucker for small fandoms. I'm still excited. :D

I'll try to spread the fandoms so it's just one request per fandom. Discworld, Charlie's Angels (McG) and Other Space are definitely going to be requested.
