Tagset

All fandoms, “characters”, and canon helpers that I do not have questions about have been accepted or rejected. If you look at the bottom of the tagset you can see there are many that I need to create associations for. If something you nominated was rejected then check to make sure it isn’t already under the tagset under a different name or in the unassociated tags section.

As an apology for my date mix up you may comment with up to two characters or groups on this post for me to add to the tagset. The only stipulations are that they must already be formatted so that I can just copy and paste and it must be for a fandom that is already in the tagset. I will also add any additional canon helpers requested for fandoms that are in the tagset.

I believe I got all the corrections that I was told about. If I missed some or you discover new ones then you can comment on this post.

Class (TV 2016)
Andra'ath | Andrea Quill – This was the only thing nominated here. This is a Doctor Who spinoff, right? Would anyone be terribly upset if I just threw her in to the Doctor Who tags? I would add a canon helper.

DC TV Shared Universe
Killer Frost (Arrowverse) – Earth 1 or Earth 2 Killer Frost? If Earth 1 is meant then how distinct from Caitlin is Killer Frost?

Discworld - Terry Pratchett
CH: Witches and wizards – Is this a specific book or subsection of books?

Marvel (Comics)
Loki (Agent of Asgard) – I’m only familiar with movie Loki. I’d like someone to state a case on how they could be interpreted as a female character, you don’t need to be the nominator to do so.

Marvel Cinematic Universe
CH: Women in S.H.I.E.L.D. – Is this a specific spinoff?

Original Work
Group: Intelligent Bonobo Alien Alpha Female & Female Human Intergalactic Ambassador – What is a Bonobo alien?

Pacific Rim (Movies)
CH: Shatterdome Operations – Is this a specific part of canon about this? I’m generally allowing in events set before or after a canon, but I’m unsure about this.
CH: Tech Girls – Is this a specific part of canon?

Star Trek
Kesh (Star Trek) – I’ve only found reference to a male character with this name

Stargate - All Media Types
CH: Off-World – Is there a particular part of canon about this?
CH: Pegasus Cultures – Is there a particular part of canon about this?

The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings - All Media Types
Fíriel Fairbairn – Would this character make more sense under The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien?
Group: Nimrodel & Mithrellas (H/LotR) – Should this be left here or moved to the Silmarillion?

The Sandman (Comics)
Group: The Kindly Ones – I prefer to have a fixed number of characters in a group. I also can’t find much info on the Kindly ones.

The Silenced (2015)
Joo-ran
Shizuko – The Wikipedia entry doesn’t make it clear how distinct Joo-Ran and Shizuko are from each other. Can you please elaborate or give me a similar example from another canon?

The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien
Gereth- The only wiki mention I can find of Gereth uses male pronouns. Is this a case of having an unclear gender in canon and the wiki just using masculine ones for ease?

The Wicked Years Series - Gregory Maguire
Someone had nominated Wicked under Oz – All Media Types. Now that the books have been nominated would you prefer that Wicked stay where it is, get moved here, or that this gets combined into the All Media Types?

broadbeam: Katla (OC based on an unnamed character from the comic) (Katla)
From: [personal profile] broadbeam
Fíriel Fairbairn - is a hobbit born after the Third Age, thus after the events in Lord of the Rings. So she would belong under Hobbit/LOTR. :)

Group: Nimrodel & Mithrellas - These characters' story is took place during the Third Age, and their story was told in Lord of the Rings.

Gereth - that's correct! :) The text never mentions gender (same for the characters Elemmírë and Malbeth.) Wiki lists them as male, but the fandom says, "Why should we assume everyone as male?"

- - - - -

And for adding to the tag set, would it be okay to add these?

The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings - All Media Types
Tauriel (H/LotR)

Voltron: Legendary Defender
Group: Pidge & Original Female Character (Voltron)

Kesh is from the Star Trek novel Spock's World. She appears in one of the flashback/historical chapters (like T'Thelaih). She's a prehistoric Vulcan woman.

I didn't know about the male character with the same name, sorry about that!

I agree with what broadbeam says about the Tolkien characters.

May I ask to have these added?

Under Greek and Roman Mythology:

Camilla of the Volsci (Greek & Roman)
Eurydice (Greek & Roman)

Awesome, thank you!

Marvel Cinematic Universe
CH: Women in S.H.I.E.L.D.

The angle I took was the things about being a woman in SHIELD as compared to being a man in SHIELD - sexism, equality, feminism, dealing with the men who undermine their skills and authority, appreciating the men who don't - that kind of thing.

The Wicked Years Series is actually such a major shift from the greater Oz umbrella, that I'd prefer it be separate. Honestly, the musical Wicked would be better with the books than with the greater Oz umbrella, because it's SO different from the rest.

There is a Wicked - All Media Types umbrella tag that tends to lump the books and musical together, but I prefer keeping them separate [mostly because of Rain and Tip not being in the musical]. But I guess what I'm saying is that I'd be okay with that umbrella tag for the books, if that makes sense.

I agree with broadbeam about the Tolkien characters.

I am barely in the Marvel fandom, and therefore not the original nominator for Loki, but my understanding is that in one version Loki was reborn as a woman, in another he kept his own form, and I think he can shapeshift between the two? I think in one of the video games you can play as female Loki, too. Granted, I couldn't tell you which comic runs that applies to.

If it's alright, could this one be added under The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien?

I'm also not the original nominator for Loki, but it's worth noting that Agent of Asgard Loki is explicitly genderfluid and both shapeshifts into and identifies as a woman on occasion.

Pacific Rim (Movies)
CH: Shatterdome Operations
CH: Tech Girls

I nominated these with the object of focusing on a section of the world. "Shatterdome Operations" is supposed to be about the workings of and employees of the Shatterdome rather than the pilots and Jaegers and high-ups, while "Tech Girls" is more of the same as "Shatterdome Operations" only with women.

Since this is an exchange around women, you could certainly just condense the two into "Shatterdome operations"

Group: The Kindly Ones – I prefer to have a fixed number of characters in a group. I also can’t find much info on the Kindly ones.

Not the one who asked for it, but the Kindly Ones are the Furies (Erinyes). "Kindly Ones" is a literal translation of the euphemism used for them by the ancient Greeks, "Eumenides." Gaiman represents the Kindly Ones as an aspect of a triad of witches (Mordred, Mildred and Cynthia, the hosts of DC's comic The Witching Hour); the witches also represent the three Fates [Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos] and the original three Muses, Melete [Practice], Mneme [Memory] and Aoide [Song].

You can see more about the Furies/the Kindly Ones here at the Sandman wiki:

Discworld - Terry Pratchett
CH: Witches and wizards – Is this a specific book or subsection of books?

I didn't nominated it but, yes there are a series of books that focus on the Unseen University and the wizards - Colour of Magic, Light Fantastic, Equal Rites, Sourcery, Last Continent, and Unseen Academicals - and a series that focus on the witches - Equal Rites, Wyrd Sisters, Witches Abroad, Lords and Ladies, Wee Free Men, Hatful of Sky, Wintersmith, I Shall Wear Midnight, Shepards Crown - that overlap at Equal Rites among other points.

They're mostly separate sub-series, though, and fans of one may not be fans of the other. I don't know what the nominator had in mind, but I personally wouldn't find that tag helpful.

I think I'd either go with Rincewind/Unseen University or Wizards for the first, since a lot of the early books in that particular sub-series focus on a single wizard and don't feature the university much if at all.

For the Stargate ones, you're saying that the Canon Helpers would be more like "SGC" "Atlantis" and "Universe" than parts of the universe that people are interested in?

No, it's okay. I'll just specify the area I'm interested in and take my chances. :)

The canon helper for The West Wing appears to have wandered into Crimson Peak's tags.

Also, Lucifer (TV) has both "Group: Linda & Maze" and "Group: Linda Martin & Mazikeen (Lucifer TV)" which refer to the same characters. Maze is Mazikeen's nickname.

i didn’t nominate it, but i wouldn’t mind if Andra'ath | Andrea Quill was put in the doctor who tags, with a canon helper.
if it is combined, may i add these two groups?

Ooh, two more noms! I struggled so much to narrow stuff down, that is so awesome of you. If it's not too much trouble could I request (and no Dahlia has no canon last name that I'm aware of so that's good to copy paste as is):

Legend of the Seeker - Group: Cara Mason & Dahlia
crossover fandoms - Group: Hayes Morrison (Conviction) & Laurel Castillo (How To Get Away With Murder)

Also I'm not the person that nommed it but 'Group: Sara Lance & the nurse' might need wrangling under DC TV Shared universe to prevent confusion? I'm assuming they mean the female nurse that Sara hooked up with in the fifties in S1 of Legends, which was Lindsay Carlisle (played by Ali Liebert).

Re: Killer Frost – I meant Earth 1 Killer Frost.

Killer Frost and Catlin Snow have split personalities, and the TV show makes it a big deal that Catlin turning into Killer Frost means she'll cease to exist as Catlin (one of the good guys) to have her personality overridden forever into Killer Frost's, a cold-hearted cynical woman and a foe. I see them as two distinct characters, that is why I've nominated KF as opposed to CS.

A bonobo is a type of ape - and I was imagining a planet populated by a species of these, who have human-level intelligence or above. I hope this clears things up in time!
